The unveiling was very nice - first of all it's a very nice location on "embassy row" and is near statues of Ghandi and Churchill, so it has good company. It was very hot, and a couple of elderly ladies needed medical treatment. Fortunately the speeches were short. Later on there was a reception in the Atrium of the World Bank, a really spectacular space. Everybody who is anybody in Czech-American circles was there, so there were some useful networking possibilities. Later there was a formal dinner where the price was $1,000 each. Vaclav Havel attended these functions but left soon after the dinner started, which upset some people. Friday there was morning "open house" at the Czech Embassy, followed by one at the Slovak Embassy.
