Congatulation to Sissy Spacek

AFoCR would like to extend its heart-felt congratulations to Sissy Spacek, an AFoCR Advisory Board Member, for her third Golden Globe award and Oscar nomination for Best Actress in Leading Role for her performance in the motion picture "In the Bedroom".

Ms. Spacek´s family is originaly from Moravia. Her great-grandfather immigrated to the United States and settled in Northeast Texas. The Spacek´s remained in that area and Sissy grew up in Quitman, Texas. She now lives in Virginia with her husband and two daughters.

Ms. Spacek is very proud of both her Czech and Texas heritage both of wich have been instrumental in her life and career. Ms. Space will be a special guest at the Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk Dedication Ceremony on September 19, 2002 for her carrer accomplishments.

Her earlier awards include Golden Globe and Oscar awards for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for "Coal Miner´s Daughter", and her Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for "Crimes of the Heart."


The representative od Houston Czech Cultural Centre Ms. Effie M. Rossene was also invited to Washington at that dedication. Our magazine will publish an article about Effie at some of next issues.

And there in Washington will be sure the friend of our magazine Dr. Vladimír Kabeš and other representatives of AFoCR as Milton Černý, Michael G. Rokos, honorary consul in Pensyllvańia Petr Rafaeli a many others important guests.
