EMIL HOLUB AND VICTORIA’S WATER FALLS
This Czech traveler, explorer and cartographer was born in 1847and lived most of his life in Patek on Ohre. His dream was to travel and describe Africa. In the year 2012 we will commemorate the 140th anniversary of his first trip to that continent. In Prague he was in contact with Vojta Naprstek and studied medicine. He wrote many books about Africa and organized several exhibitions of his collections both in Prague and in Vienna. He was particularly interested in Victoria’s Falls which he carefully described and surveyed.
The first exhibition about his work will open in the City Museum in Zatec. It is scheduled for February of 2012.PhD. Marie Imbrova
