Magical Prague Legends, A New Production at the Laterna Magica

Jiri Srnec, author and director, decided to recreate his original 1990’s production of the Magical Prague Legends and of Ahasver. This was accomplished in cooperation with Petr Zuska, choreographer and Krystof Marek, composer.

The audience gets acquainted with secrets of the old Faust House, with alchemist Edward Kelly, with Chanina and her love for Master Vltava, as she follows him into the water and comes back as a cat. There is also the Emperor Rudolf II , the Rabbi Lowi and his Golem, the builder of the ancient astronomical clock “Orloj” of Old Town, a Clown, a Devil and a Seducer.

The new masks and costumes were created by Sarka Polak- Hejnova. Scenery was designed by Miloslav Hermanek, Emil Sirotek and Antonin Danhelka. Jiri Srnec said: “It was my intention to reveal my love for the city where I live, for the place which has much magic for everyone who is willing to absorb it. “
