The Masterworks' Exhibition at the Sternbersky Palace

The Kolowrat collection of paintings is one of to the most outstanding ones in the Czech lands founded in the Baroque era. Originally it consisted mostly of portraits and was established at the castle in Rychnov nad Kneznou in the late 17th century. In later years the number of paintings was gradually increased, until it reached its maximum of 1218 artistic works by the end of the 18th century.

The most valuable painting is the Birth of St. Mary by Michael Pacher and the Espousal of St. Catherine by Corregius. There are also works by Hans von Aachen, Rubens, Skreta, Verbeeck, Hartmann, Jan K. Brand, J. Berger, Ant. Manes and others.

Most of the works may be viewed at the castle in Rychmov nad Kneznou.

The present EXHIBITION OF THE MASTERWORKS is at the STERNBERSKY PALAC. It contains 20 paintings from the KOLOWRAT PICTURE GALLERY. Catalogs of the works housed both at the Rychnov Residence as well as at the Sternbersky Palac are available. So far no closing date of the exhibition has been announced.
