Wine cellars of Moravia conquered the USA

Brno - Wines from the Moravian region received top recognition in one of the most renowned wine competitions in the USA - the San Francisco International Wine Competition. Moravian vintners were awarded two silver medals and twelve bronze medals in a competition that is considered to be the gate to the US wine market. Entries from 1,150 wineries and 21 countries competed in this year’s competition and the awards given to the Czech red wines came as a bit of a surprise.

Red wines succeeded too

Petr Skoupil from Velké Bílovice who won five awards, as well as the prestigious Best of Nation award, was the most successful Czech wine-maker.

Wines from Valtice and Lechovice received several awards too. This comesafter a number of successes for Czech wine-makers this year. They earned recognition and won six gold medals and eleven silver medals in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, a competition that took place in Bordeaux, France.

A major wine exhibition, Vinalies Internationales, in Paris presented Czech products as well. And it was in the French capital that the Czech Republic placed sixth, beating wine superpowers such as Australia and Chile.
