EXPO 58 - A Czechoslovak Dream

This year of “eights” brings to mind many past historical and cultural events and their anniversaries. Fifty years ago a World Exhibition took place in Brussels. At that time the Czechoslovak Republic impressed the world in several ways: by the architecture of its pavilion and the unique presentation of the exhibition, by its charming invention entitled Laterna Magica and by exhibiting outstanding artistic creations such as glass objects, industrial products (textiles, furniture, etc.) of a very special and unique style (later designated as “brusel”). Even Czech cuisine was featured and made famous.
The present exposition “The Brussels Dream” or The Czechoslovak Participation In The Brussels EXPO 58 and the lifestyle of the first half of the 60’s can be seen at the City Library of Prague and will be open until September 21, 2008.
