The Magic Of Herbs A Unique Exhibition

The National Museum in Prague opened in its Natural Sciences section this unusual exhibition in cooperation with the Historical Museum in Ceska Lipa.

At the same time a new book was presented, entitled "Magical Herbs." All of the above is part of a common project between Germany and the Czech Republic supported by various ecological organizations dealing with the protection of our natural environment.

The exhibition consists of colored photographs of each herb, extensive texts describing each herb's history, myths and prejudices and its uses in modern medicine. The texts were prepared by Marta Knauer, the illustrations are by Atlla Voros and the photographs were prepared by Vladimir Stepansky. The accompanying book entitled "Magic Herbs" was published in both Czech and German. It is a very unusual publication, beautifully bound and finished. It was recently entered in the competition for the most beautiful Czech book of the year.

There is also a book for children (both in Czech and German) consisting of bedtime stories about the various herbs including a children's coloring book.

The exhibition will be open until June 1, 2008 and will then move to Germany.
